Medifast Journal Day #3

I slept well again last night but I’m tired today.  No energy and more problems concentrating.  I once thought I felt a tad dizzy but it is a sensation that I’m so unfamiliar with that I’m not sure really what it was.  It passed quickly.

It didn’t take long for a monkey wrench to be thrown into the daily routine I was trying to maintain.  My wife called with the informational tidbit that her vehicle had a flat tire at work.  The vehicle, a minivan, was fairly new to us and she was unsure if it had a spare or a jack.  We had just installed new tires on it not to long ago and never really gave the spare tire or jack a thought until now, when we needed them.

I decided to leave work and head home, get my jack and travel to her work with the notion to just take the tire off and bring it to the tire center for repair.  On my way home she called to let me know that she did indeed have a spare and jack, both of which were buried inside the interior lining of the back of the van, interesting place to put them.

I detoured to her work and removed the tire to take in not wanting her to drive on a donut if she didn’t have to.  It was about lunch time and I realized that I had forgotten to bring any of my Medifast Meals with me.  A crunch bar would have been a perfect on the go meal at that time but I didn’t have one.  What to do?

I dropped the tire off and ravenously hungry I looked for a place to get a lean meal for lunch.  I would have my lean and green early today and just eat a Medifast Meal as my supper.  Well, tired and hungry, with no energy and having spent the last hour taking off a van tire I’ll admit I wasn’t in the best state of mind to make a sound choice.

There wasn’t much of a choice around and I spotted a Skyline Chili nearby.  I love Skyline Chili but haven’t eaten there in a long time mainly because of their Anti-Gun policy but I had to eat and I had to eat NOW so I went in and looked at my options.  I passed on the traditional oyster crackers and ordered water while I perused the menu.  Potato, out.  Pasta, out.  Salad possible but not filling enough and no protein for my lean and green meal.  I finally decided on a plain bowl of chili, no bean, no cheese, no onion and a side salad.  I missed the toppings but after 2 days of dieting the chili tasted dynamite and the salad was gone in no time.  I felt guilty for having “cheated” already but what could I do?  I made the best of a bad situation and after looking up the carb/sugar/calorie information of the chili later I didn’t feel so bad.  It wasn’t too much more than I should have eaten.

After lunch, I picked up the fixed tire and put it back on the van.  I had much more energy than normal and was glad for it during this time.  Work seemed easier that afternoon as well and I ate the rest of my Medifast Meals as normal for the day including my brownie at night.
